Tenaris to lay off 230 in Conroe

HOUSTON — Tenaris, the Luxembourg-based pipe and tube maker, will temporarily suspend operations at its Conroe manufacturing facility and lay off 230 workers there.

The company attributed the move to falling oil prices that have resulted in less drilling activity. It also blamed imports of tube products from South Korea for hurting its business.

The company said it “remains committed to the US industry” and still plans to move forward with investments in a new pipe mill in Bay City and another rod facility in Conroe.
