Energy companies dominate Chronicle 100

The Houston Chronicle has released its annual list of top-performing Houston companies and, while the Chronicle 100 was surprisingly diverse this year, oil and gas dominated the ranking of public companies.

Quanta Services, a pipeline and transmission systems builder, led the pack. As power generation and oil and gas production have move into new regions, the need to expand the web of infrastructure transporting those products has grown. Quanta has helped fill the need and has the numbers prove it, with surging revenue and an expanding payroll.

See what other energy companies made the Top 10 below. You can check out the complete Chronicle 100 rankings, of both public and private companies, on Chron.com.
