Lawsuit over Colorado oil and gas rules moves forward

A judge has ruled the Colorado Oil & Gas Association‘s lawsuit against the state of Colorado’s new oil and gas rules can move ahead.
The lawsuit focuses on whether the state “accurately and publicly forecast what it would cost the state agency to enforce the new rules, and whether the agency accurately forecast the cost of compliance the rules would level on companies operating in Colorado.”
After several months of waiting the judge’s ruling moves the case closer to trial.
Drilling activity in Colorado appears to be picking up but there’s a backlog as companies tried to beat the deadline before the new rules kicked in.
