Power emergency passes without a record

Texas did not break the peak electricity demand record on Thursday and the outlook for Thursday is less-than-record-breaking as well, according to ERCOT spokeswoman Dottie Roark. A record is not expected Friday.
The high demand Thursday was 62,298 megawatts* from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., just 41 megawatts short of the current record for peak demand is 62,339 MW reached on Aug. 17, 2006.
*(that figure could change since the numbers are sometimes adjusted a few hours later when final data comes through).
