BP opens new offshore learning center

BP has opened a new 75,000-square-foot operations learning center in Schriever, La. to be its central training hub for new and seasoned offshore workers.
Neil Shaw, senior vice president of BP’s Gulf of Mexico operations, said the company will keep investing in offshore training and he expects more than 4,000 workers and contractors to train at the new $20 million facility every year.
The new center, which employs 39 people, accompanies BP’s logistics center in Houma for deep water Gulf infrastructure. The company also operates gasoline marketing, pipelines and a lubricants plant in Port Allen.
