CERAWeek: Chesapeake's McClendon

In opening remarks, Chesapeake Energy Chairman and CEO Aubrey McClendon told a packed ballroom at the Westin Galleria Hotel, “We believe in volatility and believe it helps us over time.”
That remark is a sharp contrast to what virtually every other speaker so far has said, from BP’s Tony Hayward to Saudi oil minister Ali Ibrahim al-Naimi. In fact the watchword for this CERAWeek has been stability — how to achieve it and how to maintain it — both in terms of supplies and pricing.
McClendon also predicted that the rapidly falling rig count in the U.S. will correct the current oversupplied natural gas market by the end of this year.
