CERAWeek: Risk and Rebuilding Confidence

The Chronicle energy team will be blogging all week from CERAWeek, the huge energy conference that comes to Houston every year (one speaker just called it “the Davos of energy.”)
Here’s a link to the agenda, a set-up piece we did on Sunday and a piece on Rep. Ed Markey, the new Chairman of the House Commerce Committee’s Energy and Environment Subcommittee, as well as a Q&A with Markey.
A few expected highlights from the conference this week:
• Luncheon keynote by Markey, D-Mass.
Tuesday: Oil day
• Morning and luncheon keynotes by BP CEO Tony Hayward and Royal Dutch Shell CEO Jeroen Van der Veer
• Dinner keynote by Ali Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Saudi Arabia’s minister of petroleum and mineral resources
Wednesday: Natural gas day
• Morning address by Gerhard Schroeder, former German chancellor
Thursday: Power day 1
• Opening address by Fred Krupp, president, Environmental Defense Fund
Friday: Power day 2
• Session on nuclear power in electricity generation, including Peter Lyons, commissioner of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission
