China-U.S. energy trading conferece

A large number of Chinese energy officials and executives will be in Houston April 28-29 for what is being billed as the first-ever Sino-U.S. event on Chinese energy markets.
The Sino-U.S. Energy Market Development and Risk Management Symposium at the Marriot Hotel West Loop will gather Chinese policy-makers and executives with their U.S. counterparts “to discuss the demands of risk management in the energy industry,” according to the groups organizing the event, the Chinese Association of Professionals in Science and Technology and the Chinese American Petroleum Association.
Discussions include the evolution of China’s energy policy, the impact of oil prices on its economy and the development of an oil futures market.
Officials from such Chinese government agencies as the National Development and Reform Commission and the State-Owned Assets Supervision Council, and executives from Chinese National Petroleum Corp., PetroChina, SinoPec, and Chinese National Off-shore Oil Corp. are expected to participate. Other speakers include executives from Morgan Lewis, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, Amerex Brokers, Suez, SunGard, Standard & Poor’s, TradeCapture, University of Houston Global Energy Management Institute and Energy Data Hub.
