Nobody likes hedge funds

CERAWeek attendees are not quite ready to embrace the newest (and apparently most abundant) wave of capital to come into energy asset and commodity markets: banks, private equity firms and hedge funds.
In a panel Tuesday called “Oil Sector Finance: The Cliff Behind the Clouds” one question card handed to the moderator asked: “Hedge funds, can we take them outside and beat them?”
And in a Wednesday panel on banks and other new investors in energy one question read: “Are hedge funds the anti-christ?”
“We’re not going to get to that one today,” said CERA moderator Michael Zenker.
