Much of the price of gasoline is taxes. If the average American actually sat down and figured out how much taxes he/she paid (income, sales, gas, indirect taxes from purchases and services)...they would probably puke.

Well, boys, which is it? A larger supply of domestic O&G or oppressive policies? Sounds like a lot of moaning and groaning to me.

@Stevie-G - barely enough to make up for lost production for the last five years or longer. His domestic policies are going to cost us big $$$$ until we fire him from his job.

Strikes me some of the blame might be laid on BP, and Transocean, and Halliburton,and the API and others who have contributed to the disaster that promulgated many of the regulations all decry. But no, it's just oh so much easier to blame the government isn't it?

Lets see - the Obama administration is pushing to stop corporate welfare/tax break loopholes to the very profitable oil and gas industries, to help par down the national debt, but the oil companies, in wanting to keep this welfare, are telling their stooges, the speculators in NYC, to up the crude oil price no matter if Libya, OPEC, and Saudi Arabia will/have increased their production to more than compensate the loss of Iranian oil and through their private satellite networks, communicate to all the refineries and retail outlets upping gasoline/diesel prices, before the Nov 2012 elections, to help in any way possible, to cause another economic meltdown, to provide discord and anger to the USA populace, and give the very corporate friendly Republican presidential candidates a "we told you so" platform to rid this president from office, even if the face of the largest oil and gas production this country has had, since 2009.

The puppet Republicans and their corporate masters will stoop to the lowest levels of snail scum to regain power in this country again, to resort to the same 2000-2008 policies of president Cheney, that almost brought this country to a near full blown Depression.

All oil companies in the US and throughout the world, should be nationalized, to reign in such power they have over the US populace, so a national energy policy can be implemented, so the many and not just the few, can find some relief and prosperity, from the yoke they have around our necks.

Yet, in anther article it states

After declining to levels not seen since the 1940s, U.S. crude production began rising again in 2009. Drilling rigs have rushed into the nation’s oil fields, suggesting a surge in domestic crude is on the horizon.

The number of rigs in U.S. oil fields has more than quad-rupled in the past three years to 1,272, according to the Baker Hughes rig count. Including those in natural gas fields, the United States now has more rigs at work than the entire rest of the world.

“It’s staggering,” said Marshall Adkins, who directs energy research for the financial services firm Raymond James. “If we continue growing anywhere near that pace and keep squeezing demand out of the system, that puts you in a world where we are not importing oil in 10 years.”

@Mike,

At least Obama's alliances haven't resulted in thousands of American troops being killed or wounded so his VP could make a few extra bucks.
