Adams Resources & Energy CFO retires after 31 years

Adams Resources & Energy CFO and Treasurer Richard Abshire is retiring after 31 years with the company.

Chief Operating Officer and Chief Accounting Officer Sharon Davis will take over Abshire’s roles on an interim basis.

K.S. “Bud” Adams, who later would helps found the Houston Oilers, started the company nearly 70 years ago. It focuses on marketing and transportation of crude oil and petrochemicals.

Adams led the company until he died in 2013. Thomas Smith has served as chairman and president since Adams’ death.

Smith praised Abshire, saying: “Rick has been a devoted member of the Adams Resources team for 31 years, and we greatly appreciate his leadership and contributions and the role he has played in assuring the strength of the company which we enjoy today.”
