Tak Jang Hak
Busan, South Korea
Tak Jang Hak, of Steel Flower Co. Ltd. in Busan, Korea, first came to OTC two years ago. This year marks the second trip for the assistant manager in the Overseas Sales Division.
FuelFix: What’s your goal in coming to OTC?
Hak: We are focusing on getting our name out to customers. You can see many customers from all over the world. We are not selling. Our pipes are manufactured based on special request, custom for the client.
FuelFix: How has OTC been so far?
Hak: It’s the biggest event in all of the world for the oil and gas industry. It’s a really good place to meet people from anywhere. Nowadays, for example, I can see many Nigerian people here. Two years ago, it wasn’t like that. So I can see what are the differences around the world. Now I can see that Nigeria is important.
FuelFix: What other differences have you noticed?
Hak: There are more people. And nowadays they are focusing more on work. Two years ago they were just having a party.
FuelFix: Any other differences?
Hak: From Korea to Houston, we don’t have any direct flights, but since May 1 we have a direct flight. Maybe that’s because of OTC.
FuelFix: How do you find Houston?
Hak: The weather is really nice. It’s extremely hot, but the sunshine is very nice. The roads are good. It’s huge. I like the city.
FuelFix: Since you’ve been to Houston before, what were you most excited about for your return this year?
Hak: The thing that comes to mind about Houston is the basketball. The Houston Rockets are very famous. And I just went to the Houston Astros baseball game on Sunday. I haven’t been to NASA, but I would like to go.
FuelFix: Maybe next year?
Hak: Yeah, yeah. Next year.
