Chesapeake Energy says it’s cleared in securities inquiry

Chesapeake Energy Corp., the natural gas driller that ousted its founder last year amid an investor revolt, said it was cleared by the Securities and Exchange Commission in a securities and shareholder probe.

The commission’s Fort Worth office informed Chesapeake in an April 8 letter that the investigation had concluded and no enforcement action would be recommended to SEC headquarters, the Oklahoma City-based company said in a regulatory filing Wednesday.
