Chevron puts downtown tower on hold

HOUSTON — The downtown skyscraper project that Chevron announced this summer has been put on hold, the oil company said Thursday.

The 50-story tower was planned to rise at 1600 Louisiana Street, near Chevron’s other downtown buildings, to house its growing Houston workforce. Now a decision on when to move forward with the project won’t come until 2014, Chevron spokesman Justin Higgs said.
