HOUSTON — Enterprise Products Partners has begun operating an 85,000-barrel-per-day natural gas liquids fractionator at its Mont Belvieu complex east of Houston in Chambers County.
The newest fractionator, the eighth at the complex and the second the Houston-based midstream partnership has brought online there since September, brings its total natural gas liquids fractionation capacity at Mont Belvieu to 655,000 barrels per day, the partnership said Tuesday.
Both of the recently added units are 75-25 joint ventures of Enterprise Products Partners and Western Gas Partners, an affiliate of Anadarko Petroleum Corp.
Fractionators process natural gas liquids into component parts including ethane, propane and butane, which are used as fuel or as raw material for chemicals.
The Mont Belvieu complex handles natural gas liquids from U.S. plays including Texas’ Eagle Ford Shale and locations in the Rocky Mountains and Mid-continent.
