Obama will reject Keystone XL pipeline, former adviser says

Former White House climate change and energy adviser Carol Browner predicted Thursday that President Barack Obama will come down against the Keystone XL pipeline.

But, she added: “There will be some more twists and turns before we get there.”

Al Gore: Keystone XL is an ‘atrocity’

Obama vowed that his administration would only approve the multibillion-dollar pipeline “if this project does not significantly exacerbate the problem of carbon pollution.”

Keystone XL’s supporters say the project would ensure the United States has access to energy supplies from a stable North American ally. Oil industry leaders reject the notion that Canada’s oil sands have a higher carbon footprint than other heavy crudes they would displace in U.S. refineries.
