The San Antonio-based Catholic Community Foundation is starting a permanent endowment for 19 Catholic parishes in the Eagle Ford Shale.
The endowment will be for parishes that are part of the San Antonio Archdiocese in the oil-and-gas producing counties.
“For generations people have handed down their land and their faith to those who came after them,” said Robert Aguirre, president and CEO of the nonprofit Catholic Community Foundation, in a press release.
The foundation will hold community meetings throughout the region to talk about legal issues, production, estate planning, planned giving and financial management.

“More and more often we are contacted by estate planning attorneys, tax accountants or by individuals who are now beginning to quietly and carefully plan their giving,” Aguirre said. “Our ministry helps make available both the assistance and the mechanisms necessary to carry out their wishes, often in the name of those who came before them.”
