NAPE conference attracts 5,500 to downtown Houston

The Summer NAPE conference ends today, having attracted 5,500 people to the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston to trade oil and gas properties and to hear industry leaders’ outlooks on the business.

Organizers of the North America Prospect Expo, now in its 20th year, say the event is the world’s largest exposition for exploration and production professionals. More than 400 exhibitors showed of their prospects, producing properties and services on the showroom floor this week. (Houston’s largest oil and gas event is the Offshore Technology Conference, which brought 104,800 people to Houston from around the world in May.)

BNSF Railway CEO Matthew Rose was the event’s keynote speaker, discussing the growing competition between railroads and pipelines to transport the nation’s growing crude oil supply.
