The rigs at night are big and bright.
NASA recently released another image of Texas at night, and it clearly shows Eagle Ford well sites lighting up the sky.
The entire oil field isn’t visible in this latest nighttime image, but NASA did mark “well sites” on the map southeast of San Antonio.
NASA said, “A band of lighting visible to the southeast of San Antonio marks well pads associated with the Eagle Ford Formation (also known as the Eagle Ford Shale). This geologic formation is an important producer of both oil and natural gas.”
A NASA image released late last year shows the entire swoop of the Eagle Ford, and has become popular across South Texas.
Petrohawk drilled the first successful Eagle Ford well in 2008, and since then nearly 5,500 wells have been permitted by the Texas Railroad Commission.
