Anadarko has named James J. Kleckner executive vice president of international and deep-water operations. He succeeds Doug Lawler, who was tapped to be the next CEO of Chesapeake Energy Corp. earlier this month.
Kleckner had served as vice president of operations (Rockies) at Anadarko, growing the company’s operations in the Wattenberg field in Colorado and in the Greater Natural Buttes area of Utah. He will join Anadarko’s executive committee with the new position.
“Jim’s promotion to executive vice president, international and deep-water operations, is a reflection of his global operational skills, as well as the tremendous success delivered by Anadarko’s Rocky Mountain region, under his leadership,” Anadarko chairman, president and CEO Al Walker said in a written statement. “Jim brings more than 30 years of experience to this position having served in exploration and production leadership positions in the North Sea, South America, China, the Gulf of Mexico and the U.S. onshore.”
Kleckner earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He began his career at Sun Oil Company in 1981.
