Osaka Gas will occupy 10,850 square feet in the 22-story office tower under construction at 2200 Post Oak Blvd. The lease brings the building to 70 percent occupancy, development officials said Tuesday.
The space will serve as Osaka’s national headquarters and will be the company’s largest presence in the United States. The Japanese utility recently signed a 20-year liquefaction tolling agreement with Freeport LNG at a proposed natural gas liquefaction and LNG loading facility near Freeport, noted Stream Realty Partners, which is developing the building with Redstone Cos.

BBVA Compass will be the building’s main tenant. The company plans to consolidate its Houston operations there, occupying 185,000 square feet. Worldwide Machinery has also leased space in the building.
The 318,189-square-foot tower is also known as BBVA Compass Plaza.
