PARSHALL, N.D. — Crews on Friday are resuming work on an oil well about nine miles west of Parshall that has been spraying an oily mist into the air.
The Forum reports that officials expect to have the problem contained Friday morning.
North Dakota Department of Health environmental geologist Kris Roberts says the well did not pose any danger to public health and there is no need for evacuations.
Kyle Waliezer of Slawson Exploration Co. says the malfunction caused the workers to lose control of the well. The cause is still under investigation.
A specialized team that flew in from Houston on Wednesday night is continuing its work Friday.
Roberts says Lake Sakakawea, which less than one mile to the south of the well, is not in danger of being affected.
