FBI to discuss possible bomb found on gas line

OKLAHOMA CITY — The FBI says more information will be released about a possible explosive found on a gas line in eastern Oklahoma.

Special Agent Clay Simmonds said Thursday that FBI officials are meeting in Oklahoma City and that information about the device would be released later in the day. He said he did not know when the information would be revealed.

The device was found Wednesday on a gas line in Okfuskee County by a county deputy sheriff who thought it might be a bomb because of a timer attached to it.

Simmonds says the device was removed by FBI and Oklahoma Highway Patrol bomb technicians and rendered it harmless.

Simmonds also says the gas line was cleared as a precaution and Oklahoma Highway 27 was closed until the device was removed
