Federal regulators cited Pasadena Refining Services, a unit of Petroleo Brasileiro SA, for allegedly exposing its workers to multiple safety and health hazards at its facility in Pasadena.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed penalties of $115,650 for 21 serious violations including failing to provide properly built scaffolds and ensuring its guard rails were adequate.
OSHA’s South area office in Houston launched its investigation in June as part of the agency’s national emphasis program on process safety management of refineries, according to the agency.
Pasadena Refining Services has 363 employees in Pasadena, according to OSHA.
A company representative said the refiner has received the citation from OSHA and is preparing a comment.
