NRG acquires residential solar company

HOUSTON — Power provider NRG Energy Inc. announced it has acquired a New Jersey-based solar company as part of an effort to help customers interested in generating their own clean power.

NRG officials say the addition of Roof Diagnostics Solar will complement its existing network of solar installers and dealers and help the company meet customers’ demand for solar infrastructure to be installed at their homes.

“With residential solar sales expected to take off in the next few years, NRG wants and expects to meet the demand of Americans in every state who are seeking to benefit from the inexhaustible supply of clean energy provided by the sun while affording themselves greater independence from an increasingly less reliable electric grid,” said NRG President and CEO David Crane in a statement.
